Essential Functions:
Escort patient to a treatment room when requested, observing vital signs and report findings.
Obtain vital signs, when requested and report findings immediately to the registered nurse.
Must have broad knowledge and skills related to the developmental stage of pediatric, adult and the special needs of the geriatric population.
Assist in patient preparation for exam and treatment.
Assist in resuscitation efforts under the direct supervision of the RN and Physician.
Assist the RN with special procedures by supporting the patient and assisting with positioning.
Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed with attention to safety and patient comfort.
Clean and stock treatment rooms each shift with appropriate supplies and linens.
Understand and adhere to universal precautions and blood fluid and blood fluid precautions by the appropriate use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
Perform ureteral catheterization on male or female patients under the direct supervision of the RN and with attention to sterile technique.
Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.
When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.
Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One or more years' emergency department experience preferred.
Experienced Paramedic/EMT in the EMS field preferred.
