The Security Guard is responsible for controlling access to the Village; responding to and de-escalating disruptions; and keeping detailed records.
Supervision Received:
The Security Guard is supervised by the Security Supervisor Supervision Exercised:
The Security Guard does not supervise any employees.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains continuous presence at entrance to Village; greets and screens visitors; maintains knowledge of unauthorized Visitors List; denies entrance to those on the list and others as necessary or as directed.
Maintains a detailed on-duty activity log, which includes start and end work times; names of visitors; time and purpose of visits; fills out incident reports if needed.
Maintains professional relationships with staff and residents; refuses invitations to visit in personal units.
Responds to conflicts; uses communication skills to de-escalate conflicts; notifies Supervisor or Village Manager of concerns; identifies issues which need law enforcement contact; contacts law enforcement for assistance.
As needed, may occasionally walk through the Village to determine if there are any security issues; responds to situations which require immediate action.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
The Security Guard works primarily at the entrance to the Village; can stand or sit as needed.
The Security Guard also walks through the Village, on uneven ground and in all weather conditions; carries objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective communication and listening skills; patience with people in crisis; de-escalation techniques; professional attitude; basic computer and smartphone proficiency; analysis of situations requiring further assistance; reliability; punctuality.
Minimum
Qualifications:
One year experience of Customer Service plus some experience as a Security Guard.
Reliable form of transportation to the Village.
Possession of a BSIS Security Card.
Bilingual Spanish/English is required for some positions.
