59 PM The City of Sebastopol is seeking an enthusiastic person to fill a Laborer position within the Public Works Department.
The Laborer performs a variety of semiskilled or skilled manual tasks and to do specialized skilled jobs as required.
This position serves as an introduction to City Service and as a means to evaluate if a worker may be eligible to compete for other positions in the Maintenance Worker Classifications.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform landscape maintenance duties including but not limited to; manual labor for weed abatement and pruning of landscaping, transporting and spreading of mulch, purchasing and replanting of landscape material as needed.
Repair of irrigation.
Operation of power tools as necessary to assist in the above tasks.
Transporting and dumping debris to City stockyard.
Clean and repair water and sewer lines and mains as necessary Excavates trenches for the installation of water and sewer lines May paint and/or install street signs, stop signs, fire hydrants and curbs May install water meter services, water mains, valves and hydrant laterals Perform minor plumbing and electrical repair and installation work as necessary.
Maintain and repair City public buildings.
Respond to emergency calls.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:
Less than high school education OR
Experience:
Up to one month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of an appropriate California operator's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

- $50,000 for employee.
Increased coverage may be purchased by employee.
Long-term and Short-term Disability Ins.
- 60% of salary for employee.
Benefit is non- taxable income.
PERS Pension Plan:
2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members (hired after 01/01/13) or 2% @ 55 for Classic Members (transferred from another agency within 6 months).
Uniform Allowance is not PERSable income for PEPRA members.
