Accountant & Operational Planner

We are an environmentally focused AgTech startup based in Sonoma County. We manufacture organic soil and other products for commercial agriculture. We are looking for a skilled financial accountant and analyst who can also help us with operational planning, supply-chain management, and logistics management in addition to traditional accounting and financial reporting duties.


Job duties include working closely with our management team to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal and tax compliance, process accounts payable and receivable, create and manage invoices and full-charge data entry, analyzing and procuring raw materials, and organizing, negotiating, and purchasing freight and delivery services.


Our ideal candidate is a CPA or financial controller looking for a change, and interested in working for a startup company in an early stage environment. Because we are young and growing company, this full-time job requires flexibility and willingness to pitch-in in a variety of contexts and tasks.


Responsibilities



  • Record and post day to day financial transactions; balance and maintain accurate ledgers

  • Create reports, coordinate bank deposits, track bank deposits, and report financial results on a regular basis to management

  • Coordinate logistics, seek competitive bids from freight companies, and facilitate shipping for customers

  • Help manage our supply chain

  • Complete tax forms, pay taxes, and report quarterly sales tax

  • Monitor, manage, and reconcile expense reporting and cash receipts

  • Manage payroll, accounts receivable and payable

  • Invoice customers and perform basic debt collection

  • Manage all insurance requirements

  • Assist with regulatory compliance, licensing, and permitting


Requirements



  • Proven experience of 5+ years

  • CPA preferred but not required

  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles

  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records

  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers

  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and Quickbooks Enterprise software

  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration

  • Available 40 hours per week

  • Workplace is in Sebastopol, CA


Salary range: 80k -100k per year

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
